What is Telehealth?

How Does it Work?

Telehealth

Telehealth allows you to receive mental health services without physically being in a therapy office. Through the use of webcams on smartphones, laptops, tablets or desktop computers a therapist can “meet” with you virtually in a live video session.

How it Works

After the initial consult and intake paperwork has been completed, and an appointment set, you will receive an email with your appointment day and time and  a link to your video session. On the day and time of your appointment simply click on the link and you will have access to your secure and confidential video session with your therapist.

Benefits of Telehealth for Individual Therapy

Accessibility and Portability

You can attend your therapy session from your living room, home office, work office, car, grandma’s house, a hotel,... any place you have a strong internet connection, feel comfortable and safe and can ensure your privacy. Individual therapy via video sessions has increased accessibility to mental health treatment for college students, caregivers of small children, those with unpredictable chronic illness, people who live in rural areas or travel for work, and have unpredictable or busy work schedules. It also opens up your options of therapists to choose from instead of being limited by immediate geographic location.

Consistency

Of course you want to improve your mental health, make some changes and get better. Unfortunately, life can get in the way and make it harder to keep in person therapy appointments. With video therapy sessions, you can meet with your therapist where you are. This allows you to stay consistent with attending appointments and keep progressing toward your goals.

Comfort and Familiarity

It can take a lot of courage and emotional energy to show up for a therapy appointment, discussing some of the most painful and vulnerable parts of ourselves. Therapy through telehealth allows you to participate in therapy from a space that is comfortable and familiar to you.

If online therapy sounds like a good fit for you, let’s get started.
